Rules and Regulations

General Instructions

   Users are requested to keep their personal belongings such as BAGS, FILES, FOLDERS, NOTEBOOKS, TEXT BOOKS, CDs, PEN DRIVES, FLOPPIES etc. on the shelves outside before entering the library.
   Noise must be kept to a minimum level in all areas of the Library. It is therefore advisable not to use the Library for group discussions.
   Mobile phones have to be switched off or kept on vibrator mode before entering the Library.
   During the rainy season, users are requested to carry plastic bags for the library books, which will help to minimize the damage caused to the books.
   During examination days, students will not be allowed to access the computer terminals in the library.
   If books, CDs and DVDs, journals and project reports are damaged by the borrower, replacement of the borrowed item and / or, a charge of Rupees 100/- will have to be paid by the borrower.

Borrowing Instructions

   WebOPAC (Library Catalog) can be searched online to know the availability of the book.
   SFIT Library uses an automated circulation system in which all transactions are recorded against a bar-coded label.
   Books, CDs, old question papers, project reports, syllabus copies etc. must be borrowed and duly returned at the circulation counter.
   Reference Books [arranged on Rack No 17(Right) and in the Reference Section] are not allowed for home issue.
   Users are requested to check the book before getting it issued.

Lost Books / Library Cards

   If a book is mutilated or lost, the user will have to replace it by a new book or pay thrice the amount of the original price of the book along with the over due charges if any, after filling-up the relevant Lost Book Form.
   If reader’s tickets are lost, the Library should be informed immediately. In genuine cases, a duplicate card may be issued on payment of Rupees50/- per card.

The above mentioned rules are subject to periodical reviews and revisions by the management of the Institute.
